Titanic - A Night to Remember. Tom Ware Tells.
65The ill-fated liner ready to put to sea.
No sea story captures the minds of men like this one.
Welcome to Titanic - A Night to Remember. Tom Ware Tells.
She has sailed in the minds’ of men these past ninety-nine years, albeit in the recesses where only reminders bring her to the fore. But soon, quite soon, she will appear once again stark and black against a background of stars reflected in an ink dark sea. Soon we will hear the lookout’s bell ring frantically from the crow’s nest. The telephone call will be answered from the bridge and the sound of Freddie Fleet’s voice will cry out along the wire:
“Ice berg! Ice berg! – dead ahead!”
This most famous of all Stories of the Sea
Yes, quite soon this most famous of all stories of the sea will once again be news around the world. It has never for a moment lost its romantic appeal. The pomp of the first class passengers, the rumours of it being unsinkable even by The Hand of God, and the 2,227 passengers, men, women and children off to start a new life in a new land. The CQD call will go out once again. The Morse signal will be carried once more into the ionosphere high above the great ship to oscillate in the headphones of wireless operators as far away as Cape Race and as close as the SS Carpathia some 58 miles away.
“Come quick – ship is sinking by the head.”
The most famous sea story of all times will be retold once more.
A Night to Remember - Tom Ware Tells.
In April 2012 the drama will once again be thrown before the public. Yes, it will be newsworthy all around the world. Chances are for a day or so its story will make even morenewspapers than it did in April 1912. The television networks will mention it. Radio station talk-back hosts will chatter about it. And people in the street will talk about this greatest of all sea stories. Such newsworthiness will last for just few days…and then be gone. It will fade into nothingness as the great RMS Titanic did all those years ago.
A crowded ship? No. They assumed the lifeboats would never be needed.
You can experience this great event again; have it brought to life in your mind’s eye by a master storyteller. Tom Ware, with the help of many Toastmaster friends, will bring this most famous of stories of the sea to life. Tom is the after-dinner speaker at the Blacktown Workers’ Club in Western Sydney on the very eve of the centenary of that world famous tragedy. This evening will be a ‘once off,’ not to be missed. So if you’d like to experience this, along with a scrumptious three-course dinner, good company, and an evening of fun and entertainment, check out these websites and book your place now whilst you still can.
