Mind Over Matter - Ice Crystals and Doctor Masuro Emoto
79Pure frozen water - a beautiful ice crystal.
Welcome to Mind Over Matter - Ice Crystals and Doctor Masuro Emoto.
I’ve just read a book about, among other things, the influence of ‘mind over matter.’ It wasn’t called that, but the implications were there: the way we think changes matter. It especially changes the matter of which our physical bodies are made up. This is because around 70 % of our body mass is made up of water. This amount changes with age, but even in our very old age, it doesn’t get less than 50%. You could say, our physicality is water.
Around 70 percent of our physical body is water.
Sure, the water is held in our muscles, fatty tissue, bones, gristle, blood, et cetera. But it is water: H2O. So how does our mind affect our body in a demonstrable way? Well, there are many ways, of course. But this particular scientific way is that of studying water. In particular water that has been frozen to around minus 5 degrees Celsius (Minus 23 degrees Fahrenheit) for it is at this temperature that water freezes out to make its crystalline shapes.
The Good Doctor himself.
The Window of Opportunity to get a photo doesn't last long.
We’ve seen pictures of snowflakes. Snowflakes are, of course, frozen water. It is said that trillions of snow flakes fall upon the earth each year. It is also claimed that no two snow flakes are ever quite the same. (Let’s not be pedantic, and say, “Ah, but no one has ever looked at all of them,” please...) In the case of the falling snowflake, and that moment when it lands upon something and can be viewed - or photographed- it appears at its most beautiful. That moment doesn’t last long. It quickly blends or melts into its backdrop. The same, apparently, happens to artificially frozen water. The window of opportunity to get that photo doesn’t last long. But it does last long enough, as the photos in this Hub show.
Water Flower.
Even thoughts written on paper can affect water crystals.
Dr. Masuro Emoto of Japan has devoted much of his life to finding out as much as he can about water. He is convinced that our thoughts – even our written thoughts – can have an influence upon water. And this can show up in photographs taken of water crystals. In brief, loving, kind, thankful thoughts begets beautiful crystals: ugly, selfish and hateful faults, and you get distorted, unattractive crystals, or water that fails to crystalize at all.
Toxic Water.
Quality of water is important, but our thoughts are even more important.
Dr. Emoto is also quite sure that the quality of water has a huge bearing on the sorts of crystals that manifest. Generally, the world’s tap water is not pure enough to form really spectacular and beautiful crystals. Mountain streams, pure at the source, provide the very best. As does water from places such as Antarctica or the glaciers of high mountains.
Pure thoughts brings about purity.
What the good doctor also stresses is that even if our environment is polluted, if we think pure thoughts, we will manifest propitious changes in the water in our bodies. Pure thoughts bring about purity. Purity engenders health. We will purify ourselves with our thoughts. But I’ll say no more. I can’t do justice to all Dr. Emoto’s researches and conclusions in one short Hub.
Enjoy the pictures.

Great hubs
I can't say it ain't so, but I am skeptical that these experiments include good controls. No matter what the "good doctor" is thinking/feeling, there are always other individuals with different attitudes within thinking distance - whatever that might be.
Just read your post from the 27th of October... good stuff mate

Nice hub Tom. I'm surprised you didn't mention the other Japanese guy who did some similar experiments by writing "love" on a vile of water to be frozen and "hitler" on another. Similar positive and negative effects on the ice crystals resulted.
